Admittedly, I only know of one bar in the area that serves it...

I've seen it here in the shops (quite respectable chain stores) in Germany,
but I don't know it's genuine or not. You can also get it from just over
the border in the Czech, which I suspect is more than likely the real stuff.
Personally I've never drunk enough of it to have any effect.

Absinthe having drug-like hallucinogenic and other effects is just an
urban legend invented by absolutists of the time. In reality, there's
nothing special about absinthe. It's just a liquor like everything else.
If it has any special effect (which other liquors don't have) on anybody,
that's a pure placebo effect. (At some places they like to keep up the
urban legend and the ensuing placebo effect on people because it's
profitable.)
AFAIK absinthe has not been forbidden anywhere for a long time.

The psychotropic effect is a myth made up by teetotallers and social reformers.

It was a disappointment to me when I found out. Also there is too much alcohol
in the Green Fairy for my taste.

IIRC, it was here in Utah until fairly recently (like the last year or
so).

Given its alcohol content, it doesn't take very much ;)

When I was aboot 20, I once took a 2ltr bottle of Absinth to a party load of
proper piss/messheads. Fourteen hours later and I get home with 1.98ltrs of
the stuff. No one could take it! Apart from myself of course. ;0)
BTW on the original subject of ladies not liking you, I'm sure you have a lot of
ladies who are interested in you. However, one look at them and you dismiss
them as chaff.
The phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" comes to mind, swiftly
followed by "but if you don't like the look of pie, you ain't gonna put it in
your mouth!".
Also, that pheromone/hormone stuff is b***s**t. Me and a friend experimented
with it in the local "meat market". Not one taker! In fact there was a
visible !<sqrt(x^2+y^2+z^2) gap around us... ...maybe it was the "less than"
in the equation that was the problem...
.....Hmm... ..retry experiment with different parameters...
....Nope!
