A boxer after circuit training will lay on his back and put his feet some
3ft up a wall for 5 minutes. This is what I was told to do anyway, when I
used to box. Not sure what it actually does, but yeah, it helped.

It keeps the blood supply in the core organs including the head.

Yes, I remember the coach explaining something like that. Mind you, we
needed it after getting slammed with medicine balls! O.O

"Medicine balls are used by boxing professionals to improve the strength
of abdominal muscles. This is done by dropping the ball onto the abdomen
of the boxer, simulating a punch coming from an opponent."
...the HELL??! O_O

So... let me make sure I understand this correctly... you PAY somebody
to cause you excruciating pain and permanent physical injury on a
regular basis?? o_O
Oh, wait. Boxing. So you'd have to be brain-damaged in the first place. ;-)

Well, we didn't pay back in those days, so it was pain FOR FREE!!

No, not at all, it was a great regime. Circuit training, (and yes, that
ball did hurt, but it also worked), and a few rounds sparring trying to
knock the hell out of eachother. Great fun. :)

Yes, unfortunately for some. It's a tough game to be in if it's the
career you want to follow. I've been watching and following boxing for about
40 years now, (jeez, I can't believe I just typed that!), and I've seen
nearly all the <known> tragedies, well, at least over here in the UK.
Great sport for a youngster though. When I was doing it, we didn't have
safety headgear, just a pair of massive well-cushioned old soft leather
gloves. It would make your eyes water if you copped one on the nose, but
that's about it. Yeah, it was fun. :)

whoa! Slow down on the salsa, Tony Manero. I see your dancing entries
now almost equal Haskell entries! Something's terribly wrong! :P
