I found this presentation surprisingly interesting, even if it doesn't
present anything really new information to me nor probably most others
here. It's still a good summarization:

Btw, you probably watched also these from the "related videos" links,
but if not, I recommend other videos from the same author, such as:

"Oh sure, other members of his field were impressed with these advances, but
just being around these robots made people uneasy."
My thoughts about a lot of CG.

I'm pretty sure that the sight of automobiles made people uneasy in the
horse and buggy days too. I don't subscribe to the notion of "uncanny
valley" as an inherent perception issue, but believe it to be one that of
unfamiliarity. All it takes at most is one generation of living with
androids, however "uncanny" they may be to us, for nobody to give a second
thought to it. The phrase "... other members of his field were impressed
..." is telling in this respect; familiarity breeds acceptance. It's also
not fair to use the bombing of one movie to support the claim, as is
commonly made. Final Fantasy had a poor storyline, characterization. CG was
never its problem (well, except for the cost part).

It's not necessarily due to unfamiliarity. For example, surprisingly
many people suffer from mild coulrophobia (mild in the sense that they
don't panic when near a clown, but they don't feel 100% at ease either),
and this is certainly not due to unfamiliarity.
