Someone posted a complaint about this update recently, and I can't find it.
What was wrong with it?
I've had the update sitting in my tray for the last 5 or 6 days now, but I
feel uncomfortable with it sitting there - like it's watching me...
<shudder>

For some reason there's always something "wrong" with all major upgrades
(usually service packs) to Windows, if you ask the internet.
In this case, however, there was some compatibility problem between
some firewalls (at least zonealarm) and SP3. However, AFAIK, zonealarm
quickly provided an upgrade that solved the problem.
(Oh, and SP3 removed some url bar from somewhere, which some people use
for something. Never even seen it myself.)

I haven't heard, or read of this. Did you mean AVG, and one of their
recent updates?

It might be this loooong one in the attached. This is IE7 on my machine.
You just can't change it like you could in IE6. MS removed all options to do
just that. If that's the case, then I might just go for it. (*If* it creates
more space at the top for me, but I doubt that).

Oh, and even this is done with hacks in the registry. It looked worse
before.

Currently, if you have SP3, and want to try IE8beta you can not
uninstall
IE8beta.

Why would anyone want to do that?

Hmm, thanks for that. It doesn't sound too promising.

I may be a bit dense, but I really can't understand why someone would
avoid installing SP3 if the only reason is that he can't uninstall IE8beta.
