OK, can someone please tell me how the heck to get Thunderbird to
correctly display the group names? I mean, if some new group pops up,
what the heck am I supposed to make out of, "g.f.e.x.zippy", type
information? Sure, I know that i = irtc, so i.animations =
irtc.animation, but I would still prefer if the damn pane showed the
full name. :p lol Got to be something buried in the advanced settings,
if it exists, but I have no idea what I am looking for. (Ironically, if
I did I wouldn't have needed to attempt google, but since I don't, I
couldn't find it "with" google either.)

I don't follow. In the subscribe pane, you get the full names. The only
place they're abbreviated is in the tree view where you pick which
currently-subscribed group you want to read, and the full name shows up
in the title bar, yes?
Where does it "pop up" with an incomplete name?

Ever notice how people in a zombie movie never already know how to
kill zombies? Ask 100 random people in America how to kill someone
who has reanimated from the dead in a secret viral weapons lab,
and how many do you think already know you need a head-shot?

And if you enlarge the tree view horizontally, it'll widen the names as
much as there's room.
