My asus motherboard's driver disk comes with an installation program to
automatically install all the drivers in one go.
On a windows 2000 or xp machine, it does that. On Server 2003 it only
installs the sound driver. It does not say anywhere that it did not install
the LAN or RAID drivers.
To install those, you need to hunt around on the disk to find the individual
installers.
WTH ????
Surely on a server OS the LAN and RAID are slightly more needed than the
sound drivers. The individual installers run fine and the drivers are
compatible with server 2003

I've given up trying to make sense of MB install discs.
For that matter, I've given up trying to make sense of the drivers you need to
download.
(I'm not using the RAID feature on my MB, so I installed the non-RAID driver
instead, and it STILL kept giving me random crashes until I installed the RAID
driver!)

Oh, that's nothing. My motherboard came loudly advertising its RAID
features on the [very shiny] box. But it wasn't until 3 years later when
I updated the BIOS that the RAID functions actually appeared! o_O
[Fortunately, I don't need those functions. Indeed, my experience with
all inexpensive RAID controllers is that they don't work properly.
However, given that my motherboard provides *ten* SATA connectors, I
guess they figured they could throw in some software RAID for good
measure...]

Yeah. I wasted almost an hour trying to figure out why the LAN wasn't
working before realising that the drivers weren't installed. The RAID I
manually installed some time back.
