I remember a comic without the drawings. Just a pair of balloons.

Maybe inconsistent, but certainly not a myth.

"It's the Age of Channelwood."
"We should go there on vacation some time."

I stumbled(tm) on this today: http://compsoc.dur.ac.uk/whitespace/
That we have had a few comics here without the characters being visible,
makes this somewhat relevant. And it mentions Haskell. ;)

Nah.
It's almost like "hey, my comic is just getting to some really
interesting stuff... ah, screw it, I can't be bothered any more. Let's
go do something completely random and unrelated just for a laugh."

Hmm. Well I was beginning to *think* I was some kind of web comic
addict. However, having surfed almost all of the above, I failed to find
any of them addictive. So maybe it's just that the few comics I've
happened across are just particularly appealing to my particular brain
dysfunction?

Well, it also gave him an accurate measure of how many people are
interested (there were 40k votes).

A simple hit counter does that too. ;-)
[So you remember hit counters? Those used to be all the rage back in the
1990s. Seems nobody's using them these days...]
