What did you watch when you were a kid?
(I have a feeling this is going to differ wildly by geography...)
I used to enjoy the following, to varying degrees:
Heman
Thundercats
Transformers
My Little Pony
Care Bears
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Eighty Days Around the World
Jem
Probably more...

Well I had to look some of these up because I had never heard their
English title :-)
He-man and Thundercats I definitely remember. In fact there must be some
associated toys still lying around somewhere in a cellar :-) As for the
others, I do not have accurate memories, but I sure know them. Must have
been too young...
Being from one of the first French generation widely exposed to japanese
anime, I must add some of these:
Goldorak
Albator
Saint Seiya (my all time favourite)
Ronin Warriors
I even remember watching "Fist of the North Star", whose diffusion has
been stopped quite quickly because it was too violent for children.
Well, I survived :-)
And then there are silly things such as Bioman, that I don't think I
could endure now, but that I remember watching regularly...

Yup, though I hated the Care Bears. The problem with little sisters is
that when they yell enough, the TV stays on what ever they want to
watch. There was a time when, every day when I came home from grade
school, my sister suddenly wanted to watch the Care Bear Movie. That
stopped for at least 15 years when I told her mom taped over it.
Robotech / Transformers / Go-Bots / Mask all of those blended together
Kimba
Tom and Jerry
Scooby Doo
The Smurfs
Looney Toons

Let's see...
Doctor Who
Transformers
Star Blazers (aka Space Cruiser Yamamoto)
Robotech
Battlestar Galactica
Galactica 1980
Star Trek
Warner Brothers' Cartoons (the good ones, Tex Avery &c.) - collectively
known as "The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour" (or show)
Some non-fiction-ish shows:
In Search Of...
Any of the specials with David Copperfield
Any of the specials with Doug Henning
Fight Back! (With David Horowitz)
That's Incredible
Going back a bit further, I'd probably add:
Sesame Street
Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
The Electric Company
Romper Room (much earlier that the three above)
When I was around 7 years old, my mom used to bowl and my brother and I
would stay in the "day care" room at the bowling alley. The lady who ran
that forced us to watch "Happy Days" (which I hated) and "Eight is
Enough". A few others like "My Three Sons" and "Leave it to Beaver" were
in there as well.
Oh, yes, Little House on the Prairie.
A few game shows like Joker's Wild, Jeopardy (my dad loved that show),
The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune - usually what my parents watched
during dinner.

...and I should have thrown in 'Rawhide' and Walt Disney's 'Wonderful

I could have sworn that 'Combat' was also created by Rod Serling, but
apparently I'm wrong.

Wonderful World of Disney I do recall watching regularly as well, now you
mention it. I also forgot Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, The Brady Bunch (some
of the things I list now just make me shake my head), Popeye, Flinstones,
the Jetsons.

Not allowed to watch He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats, Transformers, Voltron,
G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, et cetera due to satanic (read: has magic)
and/or violent content. Whee. Occasionally sneaked an ep here and
there while visiting neighbour kids. :P
I remember watching:
Mysterious Cities of Gold
the Little Prince
Belle and Sebastian
the Little Koala Show
Maple Town
Today's Special (wtf? that's a magic hat, wonder how that got by)
Sesame Street (pre-Elmo ftw)
Flying House/Superbook
Count Duckula (might've been sneaking that one)
Dangermouse
the Monkees
Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
Mr. Wizard
3-2-1 Contact
Reading Rainbow
Newton's Apple
Square One TV
(ah, Wikipedia, how handy you are at recalling names of old PBS shows)

Fraggle Rock
...and I remembered after seeing the titles in other posts:
a few eps of Animated Star Trek
Warner Bros. cartoons
Flintstones
the Jetsons
Tom and Jerry
Happy Days
My Three Sons
(don't think I ever really watched Leave it to Beaver)
Dennis the Menace
Man from UNCLE (one of several shows myself and my sister got grounded
many times from watching for play-acting scenes therefrom)
Get Smart (might've been a bit later, depends when Nickelodeon added it
to their lineup)
Wheel of Fortune
Inspector Gadget
ALF (the live-action)
Duck Tales, Chip 'n' Dale, Tail Spin, that batch was more around middle
school, segue into MacGuyver, Star Trek: TNG, Time Trax, Babylon 5,
Space Rangers, ST:DS9, seaQuest, Earth 2, et cetera.
Rather loathed Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life sufficiently on my
own to not need much encouraging to not watch. Simpsons and Tool Time
were, early in their runs, also on the 'not allowed to watch' list, due
to coarse humour. Smurfs? That not only has magic, it has Black Magic
(thank you, Gargamel). RIGHT OUT! (I think I remember watching bits of
it here and there, though)

Superb. They really must release this on DVD (it is available as
bootlegs at present), it has a very enthusiastic fan-base and I for one
would buy it because I missed the last two episodes!
Don't let's forget (I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it):
Ulysses 31 !
I obtained this recently on DVD and it hasn't dated too much at all.

wow. i think i watched this and i remember really liking it. About a group
of kids searching the americas for the lost city of gold, opening themesong
was something like "Woooo ohhh woo ohh oh. Someday we will find... the
cities of gold."
but earlier than that...
Bugs Bunny (and the rest of that crew)
Tom & Jerry
GI Joe
Transformers
He-Man
Thundercats
The Smurfs
Inspector Gadget... crazy but I remember the first day it aired. My mom was
taking my sister and I to buy colored clay. WOot!
There was also some cartoon that was about a bunch of animals that lived in
a tree. They had magical t-shirts that said different things. There was like
a racoon, and a mole, among others.

Popeye definitely was a never miss when I was really young. Flintstones
yes, but that was highschool days. Flop on the couch after a day at
school: Flintstones, Start Trek, Jetsons, while waiting for dinner,
before homework.

Homework, ah yes, I had forgotten about that (odd since my kid has some

I wonder if they ever did that on Celebrity Deathmatch....
If not, they should.

EVERYONE was in love with Annette!
She was even in a Garfield comic strip. Garfield's flopped on the lounge.
He's staring at the TV and wearing Mickey Mouse ears. And he thinks/says:
"Shake it, Annette."
Now, I had the hots for Betty Rubble!

Yup, but the transformation sequences got boring. Yeah yeah sight without

Hmm not heard of that.

Ulysses 31 ("u-leh-se-ee-ee-ee-es")
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors (or "Wheeled Warr-iors!")
(both of those were so cool)
Dangermouse (too damn funny)
Chorlton and the Wheelies ("Hello little old lady") :-)
Inspector Gadget ("I'll get you next time Gadget; next time")
Dungeons and Dragons (I don't think they were shown in order though)
MASK
The Flumps
Fraggle Rock ("Dance your cares away")
Gummi Bears ("Bouncing here and there and everywhere")
Willo the Wisp
Grange Hill
and as you say probably others hmm I recall prefering the Jetsons to the
Flintstones although I could proabbly still sing the Flintstones theme,
but not the Jetsons; strange that.
Now where did that link go ah http://www.80scartoons.co.uk/

£13 at Amazon, half the price of Dangermouse. Just wish they'd release
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors too.

Daughter Judy... <off to big school>

Not as memorable as the Flintstones theme, which has even been recorded by
jazz artists on their albums.

I can hear it in my head now. It's a bit staccato to me; lacks the flow of
the Flintstones.
Ah now I'm going to have Fraggle Rock, Gummi Bears and Flintstones running
through my head with the odd interuption of Ulysses and a Wheeled Warriors
finale.
Now I just need to watch Ultimate Showdown or Avenue Q to have my head
explode.

I watched the original run of B5 here in the UK on our Channel 4; I was
in the sixth form when it started and I went to university halfway
through. Not many of us had TVs so it was a real pain trying to keep up
with it!
(before the days of Sky+ and copious repeats)
Definitely the best SF I've ever seen for television, and arguably
cinema too.

I don't know. I think I lost track because it went on so long (20+
episodes, difficult for a 10-year-old - or whatever I was), and then
everyone at school was saying how it had finally ended and I realised
I'd missed it. The last bit I remember was the battle with the Olmecs
and their mask-shaped laser-ship. Quite a high body count, as I recall...

I don't understand how I missed this. Everyone I know remembers it, I've
seen the opening titles on YouTube, but I have absolutely no memory of
it. It looks really good; I feel robbed!
