Like sh**!
Job sucks great deal.
More tasks ... less people to do them and the deadlines are closer than
before.
BBQ would be OK :-)

Nothing. I found out that I'm going to be paid in arrears to the sum of
nearly £2000. This means I'll receive it when I die. (Over my dead body!!)

Today it was 16384 days ago that I was born.
I was mostly at home because of a distorted ankle and my wife drove me
to the dentist to get a new crown in my upper jaw. So it was a fun way
to spend my 2^14th day not being able to walk well or eat well.

Babies scream? I thought they shouted out loud "WHERE'S MY GRUB, MUM?!"
Well, that seems to be the case when they're 18+ at least...
Little bu88ers... ;)
Hope you're ok Mike.

Started out OK. Had to take my wife to the hospital for an endoscopy at
7 AM. She was pretty nervous about it, but everything came back good;
the flip side is that means they still don't know why she's had
stomachaches for the last 6 weeks.
But then it went downhill a bit: Went and got my allergy shot (no
problems there) and headed over to CostCo to get a prescription filled.
"20 minutes", they said. Well, I went back to pick it up in 20 minutes
and they said "your wife's not in the system, so we need some info and
then we can fill the script." Well, BS she's not in the system; we
picked up a prescription for her about a month ago. 25 minutes later,
I'm watching them come tell other people who are waiting that their stuff
is done, but I'm still waiting. Finally, one of the techs, coming *back*
from lunch saw me and said "Parker? I know I filled that one before I
went to lunch." Great, thanks for telling me or for someone else telling
me while I sat there bored out of my skull. I'd have waited another 5
minutes before making a bit of a scene.
Good thing I didn't pick my lunch up *first*, as it would've surely gone
off sitting in the car waiting for me.
So then I went to get lunch; I've been craving a smothered burrito from a
local small chain for about a week, so I figured I'd go over and get one
to go. Walked in, ordered it to go, and they said "20 minutes" (I'm
sensing a pattern here). Sat down and watched people come in, order
lunch, eat, pay, and leave all while I'm waiting for my order. 45
minutes later, I got up and they saw me and said "are you still
waiting?" Um, yes, I'm kinda, oh, I don't know, HUNGRY! I enjoyed the
"entertainment" while I was waiting (drunk/high guy staggering around
outside; he sat down in the grass and passed out, then the cops showed
up, followed by 3 paramedic units). Got a discount on my (now cold)
lunch, but the good news is those burritos get *better* if you have to
reheat them. And they're pretty damned good to start with (the only
reason I kept waiting).
Stopped and picked up donuts on the way home; the shop was out of glazed,
and the creme-filled ones they gave were custard (not whipped cream as
was requested), so I ended up with the wrong thing.
I suppose it could've been worse, but for the waiting for people to get
their acts together.
And that's the first day of my vacation.

Some people boil corn, but that causes it to lose flavor (my personal
theory is that all the Tasty Goodness(tm) floats away in the water).
BBQing it keeps it sweet and yummy :)

Sorry to hear that. Why was the wife resentful? Would she rather have
gotten sick herself?

Yeah, we just got switched to being paid in arrears rather than paid
current. Management kept telling us "You're not really losing anything,
you'll still be paid the same amount for the same time you put in!"
Not that anyone believed them, but oh well.

Friday through Monday we're planning a trip to Park City to do some
exploring. That'll be fun rather than frustrating. :-)
On the plus side for today, though, I have been exchanging e-mails with
my brother in Japan - we haven't talked like this in years (if ever). I
spent *5 hours* writing an e-mail to him today - not for lack of being
able to say anything, but because we're talking about so much.

Yeah, but you just get it later, which isn't good imo - not in today's
climate anyway.

Heh. a few weeks after we brought him home, we left him with a trusted
friend and went to see this movie. During the whole baby nightmare
sequence we were rolling. We laughed until our sides hurt quite
literally. It was a bit close to home... especially the projectile
puking. Seriously, those things can spit-up with FORCE!

Nah, She's just resentful because I'm only doing minimal housework, and
she's having to carry more of a load, which is a lot... she wasn't too
happy to be without help the day before she went back to work (seeing as
how she also had to prep for the week ahead, and take care of baby, and
clean, and do laundry, and do dishes.. etc all while I'm in bed wishing
I were dead.)

Eew, don't like getting crowns. don't like any dental work beyond the
normal cleanings, and even those can get annoying.

And today I treated my department on cake for that. That got some mixed
reactions. Some found it interesting and a few looked at me as if I was
complete mad. ;)

At the rate at which I write, that's about 4 pages of new text. :-)
Now I want to know what the word count is....

Well, yes, I kinda gathered *that*. ;-)
Steve ended up replying to the first half of the message, saving the
second half for later.
Turns out it was *9000* words of new text (ie, not including quoted
bits). And that's not rounded, either, I somehow managed to hit it on
the nose...
