Hello,
I would like to convert PLY data to POV, especially Lucy, I can load Lucy data
in Meshlab 3.3.2, save as OBJ trying to convert (OBJ & PLY) with Poseray 3.12.2
(crashed, I guess 32 bits app), with Poseray 3.13.16 (never ending ...),
targeted platform is Win7 64 bits. I did some testing with XP same results
(Poseray crashed).
Any ideas ?
Chris.

Lucy is huge. (No, even bigger: 10 millions vertices, 20 millions
triangles); At least a 64 bits OS might be needed to handler it, unless
simplified. And you'd better have a lot of RAM.

Try with a smaller scan first.

IIRC, someone made an animation with soap-bubble ending as Lucy (and
show it in these groups, but I cannot find it back). And Rober McGregor
did one render in p.b.i of Lucy in the sky in 2010 (September)

Maybe he kept the mesh ?

Later Clipka also played with it.

I have a copy that I decimated. The OBJ file zipped (RARed) is 48 Meg
and an INC file is 49 Meg.

Yours for the asking and if I can get it to you.

To see an image, look in p.b.i. Thread "SSLT Dragon" 22/02/11 and look
for my post of 1/3/11

Just checked and I uploaded a smaller version to povray.binaries.misc.
in March 2011.
And Robert McGregor uploaded the Stanford Dragon INC (2.8 MB zipped)
about the same time.
