I am a new user and have been all over the documentation serveral times. I
would like to know how I would fix my renders from being so grainy? Also
I'd really like to know just where you put all this code in at to correct
render issues or any other issues. I keep reading about a text editor. What
text editor? In POVray or MS note pad where? It looks like you've got to be
some kind of programer the use this thing...LOL!

The POV source code is pure text, you can see it when you open a file on
POV-Ray for Windows. How do you mean grainy? At the moment thei're been
rendered or after scaling them larger? Pov for Windows renders by
default (IIRC) 160x100 oslt images - you can see the pull-down menu at
left on the screen, pretty near for the top of the screen. Select higher
resolution from there, and the image will be rendered bigger. AA means
anti-aliasing, if you'll feel it needed.

What version are you using? That'll help.

It helps...But POV comes with a lots of examples that you can play with.
When I first started with POV I treated it as an adventure game. I'd 
take an example and ask 'Why does this work?'. I'd change some thing. 
And see what happen. Some times it would crash (I'd die) and some time 
it work. I'd use what little bit of knowelge I gained to attack another
example. When I'v conquered one example I'd move on. When I've got tired 
of the fight I'd stop and play using the knowelege I've gained.
  The main thing is to have fun!

That's a good approach.
Begin by simple examples
There are some graphic modellers softs which can make the coding part for
you but I suggest that your begin with SDL (Scene Description Language which
is the language POV understands)
