I've modeled a CSG which is made up of 2 tori and many other shapes. When
rendered with a normal camera it looks great however when I use a
orthographic camera the tori are covered in artifacts. I assume I need to
set a higher accuracy for the tori but how exactly do I do that?

Help,
Carl

Try sturm in your torus statement

Is your orthographic camera really far away? If so, bring it in as close as
you can and you'll probably find that the artifacts go away.

Not really. Here is my camera statement...

camera {orthographic location center+5*y look_at center angle 30}

Where center is the center of my CSG and with this view the object fills
most of the screen.

Here is the image I'm working on.

You see a hint of the artifacts in the front view. They are really bad in
the top view. The other views here look clean but that's only because I
used a lot of AA and the artifacts were rare in these views and they
averaged out. I'll now remake this image with sturm in the torus
statements.

By the way, is trial and error the bast way to place the light sources to
bring out as much detail as possible with an image like this? I'm also
just moving the camera from one view to the next and using the same light
sources. Maybe that's a mistake. It seems if I add a light source to
bring out a detail in one view it washes out a detail in another view. Any
tips...

Thanks again,
Carl
