Hi,
I am new to pov-ray, actually I know absolutely nothing about it! :D
The question is:
I have a curve (x, y pairs, result of a scientific experiment), now
I want to rotate the curve around the y axis. It will make a 3D
surface then, i.e. x'=x*cos(a), y'=x*sin(a), z'=y [a=0~2*Pi].
How to do it in pov-ray?
Thanks

That would be a lathe or sor (surface of revolution). Either one will do,
but you will probably want to check into the spline type which will control
the point to point line. Have a look at the Help, section 2.3.1 Spline based
shapes.

Hi,
have a look at the 'lathe' and 'sor' objects
in the POV-Ray documentation. In Version 3.6
the entries are located at 3.4.1.7 and 3.4.1.12

Thanks for telling of those other doc sections, Thies! Never a wasted
effort.

and if you have weird gaps in the resulting object, use "sturm on" in the
definition of your lathe or sor object.
