Okay, I've got the newest version of POV Ray. I have used it before (a few
years ago), so I have a general knowledge of whats going on. I thought. I
have a sword I'm making, and I want the blade to glow. not just bounce
light off it, but really glow. Here's a link to the image I'm working off
of. http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20050126.html

Now, I have tried ambiance, brilliance, a few others i can't think of right
now... any ideas? Thanks. Ender.

Do you want the glow to illuminate other objects?

If not, a high ambient ought to do the trick. Bare in mind that, in
pov-land, things don't get any brighter than <1,1,1>, so to make a high
ambient stand out, you will need to make sure that the rest of your scene
has a generally lower light than that.

If you need the sword to illuminate other objects, then you will, afaik,
need to use radiosity... you could, as an alternative, try filling the sword
with emitting media, or scattering media with some lights embedded in it.

You should be more specific on what exactly is the effect you want.
"To glow" is not descriptive enough to know what you have in mind.

You can surround the blade by a similar but somewhat larger invisible "blade", that
part will be
hollow and contain some media.
