I'm not really sure. Very good question. Seems like it could be related to
the first and third array values in the tv-day2.flr file where it says
lf_spot_info. Not sure why the first are divided by two but they equal the
third number. In trying changes on those I found it apparently varies the
number of flare spots.
Looking over the nkflare.inc file I couldn't make any sense out of it. I'd
need some sort of Nathan Kopp education class to learn it well enough to say
proof positive those are the values to change. BTW, I'm using version 5.0
from Oct. '98 here and I didn't see a flare_amount defined, only a
flare_size which is overall scaling.
