How can you create a smoothly curving rectangular plane with povray? Like a
smoothly curving wall? Thanks,

David

How about using the inside of a cylinder, or carving a
curved section out of a box?

difference{
 box{<0,0,0>,<-5,5,-5>}
 cylinder{<0,-.1,0>,<0,5.1,0>,4}
 pigment{rgb 1}
}

Look at CSG merge, union, and especially difference and intersection
for this.
