I'm sure this question is quite simple and I'm overlooking something stupid,
but I can't figure it out, and can't find it in any FAQ. I'm also new to
newsgroups, so please forgive me if I do anything wrong. I didn't include
the source file, but can if needed.

I'm making a large scale scene with walls (using long thin boxes about
10x380x2400) on each side with texture T_Stone21 red marble. Looks fine.
Halfway embedded in the walls, so you see half circles, are columns
(cylinder 375 high by 25 radius) using a slightly modified T_Stone17 white
marble, with a lathe base, same texture. So far everything is fine, the
columns are nice looking white marble like I expected, bright and uniform
all the way to the tops. Then I attempt to connect the columns (on each
side) with a single box 40x40x2200 using the same texture. It comes out ugly
grey. I've tried putting a light closer, played with ambient and diffuse,
move it closer to the ground (the white cylinder will pass through the grey
box.) I used the original texture in case my mod messed it up, no change. I
don't understand why the same texture, at the same scale, in the same light,
looks so differant on a differant shape.
Thanks, anyone who can help me.

So you have scaled the objects separate of the texture to prevent any
differences in them? Only reasoning I can imagine would make a change is
highlighting, but seems you covered all the bases on that possibility by
checking other lighting and object positions.
