I am looking to do organic shapes, heads, busts, bodies etc. but without 
having to hack apart blobman or such...

I found a free copy of something called amorphium on a cover disk that seems
quite fun, but I haven't played with it enough to say more...

Try anim8or from www.ani8or.com it outputs 3ds but you can easily convert
with 3dwin
