Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that the POV-Ray forum on AOL still exists. We
have been operating continuously since late in 1993, and, although AOL has
done its best to bury the graphics forum into Computing, we still have a
small group of dedicated POVers. I also host a live chat on Thursday nights
devoted to POV, as I have for over a decade. Anyone wanting further
information can e-mail me at hos### [at] aolcom.
Thanks, Dave Dunn

I have tried to email the host in question. But the mail just bounces back.
Anyone know if this forum is still available.

Hmmmmmm. It might not be.
You might also want to try pointcloud(at)aol.com since that was his non-host
name, if he is still there at AOL. But he had told me last year that he
might be leaving, IIRC, but I've misplaced that email so I can't check to be
sure. Dave might even be lurking these newsgroups occasionally, so there's
always a chance he might reply here.
Hosts get the AOL connection free (or discounted?). Another host might still
be around and know the status, so maybe emailing hostcompjimp(at)aol.com
could help find out for sure.
I quit using AOL over a year ago and there were only three or four of us
visiting there at the POV-Ray Chat every week. So unless the activity
increased since then, with a replacement host, too, I have my doubts it
exists now. I tried to stay there myself as long as possible, it was a nice
little group of people that had been there since the early or mid 1990's. I
was also at Compuserve about a year, at first, but AOL proved to be faster
to navigate around in and I never got back to Compuserve (all dial-up, of
course).
Reminds me that I need to see about making a change of URL's given to
povray.org for the People's Pages because I had used AOL web space to hold
all my POV related stuff, even though I've had my own domain name and a web
host these past few years.

I do not think there is any pov-ray group on aol anymore. However, there is
a newly added pov-ray forum at http://www.highpoly3d.com if anyone is
interested. It is a small community of freeware app users, (mostly wings3d
users at the moment). If anyone wants to join feel free.
