I note you are using the POV-Ray web interface to the newsgroups. Please
understand that the groups are not web-based and in fact you are just using
the web interface as a newsreader. Since it is not necessary to provide a
real email address when accessing the groups via a regular newsreader
program (at <nntp://news.povray.org/>), it is not possible to provide a
general solution to this.
It is technically feasable to do this for only people who are registered on
the web interface, but it would take more work than you probably expect
because posts are not necessarily made via that interface and as such we
would need to add logic to track what is posted to where and who has been
notified of it.
I agree it would be a nice feature to have (and could certainly use it
myself) but unfortunately the POV-Team is a bit limited in free time. We
don't have a dedicated webmaster and therefore implementing your idea would
take time from developing POV-Ray. I think that most people would prefer
that we spend our time working on the latter rather than the former ...
If we ever find a suitable qualified webmaster with the dedication needed to
stay around for a long time (several years) this will be among the list of
things we will suggest he/she add to the site.
