Do you have Mac with a G3 or G4?

OK, yes, that explains it. I only got a few complaints about this problem
and I now know the common cause: There is indeed a little problem with
non-G4 version of the render engine which expects a different version of
POVMSLib. However, the version it expects wouldn't be compatible with the
frontend application ... I changed the website yesterday already.

If you want you can try to replace your "POV-Ray Lib" file with the one
included in the archive at <http://mac.povray.org/download/351g3.sit> (about
650 KB). However, I cannot yet promise you that it does really work.

I see that now, "Note that a Mac with a G4 class processor is required
to run this release candidate!"

I'll give it a try and see how it works out.

Same behavior with that Lib file. That stands to reason, though, because
it appears to be identical to the file included in the 3.5.1 RC1
download.

So, for now, I'll stick with 3.5 0173.

I had the same problem on my Powerbook G4, sent in a bug report, and
then remembered that this place existed and went to look - deleting the
preferences resolved the issue for me; thanks!

I have the same problem on my G4s. All run 10.2.4, and all crash with the
same error.
However, MacMegaPov 1.0 runs without problems. Besides, the 3.5.1 release
has expired.

Your problem is caused by preferences which select the wrong POV-Ray Render
Engine (they need to specify the G4 engine), which is not supported by this
beta. This only happens if you had a previous version of POV-Ray 3.5
installed. Just delete the POV-Ray 3.5 Preferences and POV-Ray will work.

Thanks, that fixes this problem indeed. The version 3.5.1 has expired,
though,
so I don't get much further with it.
