Playing devils' advocate: which thread would that be?  This article is in
a thread by itself.  I think the thread you're talking about is one that's
crossposted massively, and the followups should definitely be trimmed, but
it doesn't just live in this group, so most of the participants in that thread
will never even see your plea for sanity.
