I'm running 10.3 (w/o an OS 9 system folder, so no classic) Pov-Ray
opens and renders fine (and, mysteriously, I am not affected by the bug
that caused POV-Ray to crash when oppening files). The problem is,
baisically, that it won't let me do anything.
All the menu options associated with individual files (i.e. "render
settings," or the render option itself) are greyed-out and innacesable.
I can render fine using the que, I suppose, but I really need to
change my render settings...

Well, as is clearly said on the download page, if you use Mac OS X you
should *not* use build 173. If you do, and have problems, don't expect
anybody to be able to help you...

It does it with every build, I've tried the original, the 3.6 beta and
3.5 RC1. It's the same every time.

What is the file extension of your files?

There wasn't one.
Well, I'm an idiot. Sorry to take up your time.

There is a switch in the preferences. Usually you only want to render files
with the extension ".pov", so I think that is enabled by default. Turn it
off, and you can just render any file. Of course, watch out to not "render"
a large include file by accident. POV-Ray will happily parse it but you
will just get a black picture...
