For NaNoGenMo 2019, I used POVRay heavily to create a fictional catalog of
starships and space vehicles. It's supposed to look like classified ads from
the future.
The code is a lot of Perl to recursively build a POVRay scene file. The
starships are collections of POVRay objects (cubes, half-spheres, cylinders,
etc), and then a CSG subtraction / union / mirror to achieve symmetrical results
- either bilateral for shuttle-looking things, or radial for space stations.
You can see the completed output on Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/details/nanogenmo_2019_starshiptradermonthly
and you can view the code or read much more about the project on Github:
https://github.com/greg-kennedy/StarAndDriver
Without POVRay this project would have been impossible to complete!
-Greg

I want the one with the heated Captain's chair.
I think 600,000 credits is a bit much for a "must sell!" :)
The UPC code on the back cover was a good finish. :)

Congrats!
Did you develop an algorhythm that randomly puts together those shapes in a
certain way that it produces spaceship shapes, or did you build each ship fully
by yourself?
With such a "spaceship magazine" you would make a good player for "Dual
Universe" or maybe also "Star Citizen". :-)

Suggestions:
You might also want to search the POV-Ray newsgroups for
- "Imperial Carrier Seneca"
- "Space Ark "Mankind"
- "Greebles"
Especially the last suggestion might give you many more possibilities for
spaceships.
