[using v3.7.1 beta 9 in Windows]
I just noticed something about the 'peak memory' message in the message pane,
that may or may not be correct.
If I open a fresh session of POV-Ray and run a typical scene, I get a certain
peak memory use. If I then open the (Windows) help file/manual, and run my scene
again, the peak memory has now climbed by megabytes. If I then close out the
help file, peak memory declines somewhat, but not back to the level that was
there at the beginning.
While I do understand that the help file requires memory in general (and that
closing it out still keeps 'part' of the help file in memory for a quicker
re-opening), I'm wondering if that extra memory use is supposed to be reflected
in the 'peak memory' message itself. My own guess is no; otherwise, this creates
a false impression of what the *actual* (lower) memory requirement of a scene
is... and is rather confusing, especially when tying to code a scene for
efficient
memory use.
Is this expected behavior?
