hum hum... why cannot ? 

MacMegaPov has in "Rendering Options" windows, a menu in "Rendering 
Quality" zone. Quality can be set from "0 - Qcolors, Full Ambient" to "9 
- Compute Media". 

Of course, ini file can do the same.


For your probleme, you can duplicate your pov file.
remove all textures to all objects, then fix in the #default directive,
the texture you want for your tests

....except that the official version doesn't work on most Intel Macs (as
mentioned on the POV download page), and the unofficial 3.7 is based on the
megapov gui.

In practice I've found megapov to give identical results to the official
release, as long as you stay away from the experimental features of course!
(although they're half the fun :)
