I'm going to the Boston conference.

A few Q's:

1) Anyone else going?

2) There's a huge difference in registration cost betwen Full Conference
(Member $750) and Conference Select (Member $220). I suppose I could
research this further on my own, but it's not clearly laid out in their
2006 web pages yet. Anyone have any idea whether the average pov-hobbyist
would have any interest in the Full?

3) I'm of course surely paying my own hotel and travel and registration.
But does povray need a table to be sat at for a period of time? (I'm not
intending to get any renumeration, but wouldn't pass up for a sec an
opportunity to earn an invitation to a wine and chesse fest somewhere.)

4) What does the average conference attendee bring along? I could imagine
that if you were desparately looking for a job, you'd actively be passing
out resume's and demo reel wallet-size DVD's. But does the average
attendee bring a lot of stuff to share with folks they rub elbows with?

Okay, a BYOB & saltines social, at least then? ;)

Seriously though, is there anything that an average pov-ver could do for
povray at SIGGRAPH? Wearing a T-shirt with the URL, leaving flyers in
lobby waiting rooms cards-- anything-- if the registration fees for
"tabling" are out of the question for a *freeware* organization?

Bring two sets of t-shirts. One says "Y is UP!" and the other says "Z
is UP!" Put them on a sandwich board and walk around wearing the board.

Sell them for nine bucks each.

Donate the proceeds to povray.org.

Regards,
John

Or, for more entertainment, sell the Y T-shirts for a $currency less
than the Z's, or vice-versa.

For even more entertainment, make friends with someone at the
conference. One of you should sell the Y T-shirts for a $currency less
than the Z T-shirts, and the other should vice-versa. Compare notes
afterwards.

Let's not limit our thinking to a mere three dimensions. As every simulator
knows: "X,Y and Z are arbitrary; TIME is up."

Have the following price schedule:
1 Y-up shirt: $9
1 Z-up shirt: $9
1 Y-up shirt and 1 Z-up shirt: $19

See how many people walk up and insist on buying two for $18.
