I noticed that Bob Hughes (in an image thread) tried to download a zipped
scene file, and found it corrupted; I found the same with several, as well.
This is in the http://news.povray/org/ files. However, when I download
from the newsreader (newsgroup) files, they come out fine. Is this a
problem with the web version of new.povray.org? Does anyone else
experience this? In any event, if you can't seem to get a working zip file
from the web version of news.pov, try the newsgroup (it's not USENET, do I
have that right?) version; this seems to solve the problem.

Just a suggestion that sometimes works. Those who know more about such
things will (no doubt) correct my interpretation or tell me that what I've
found is impossible ;-), but since it's worked repeatedly for me, I thought
I'd share.

You will need to provide a link to at least one of the files, otherwise it
is a guessing game if the problem is on your side (could i.e. be some
overcautious virus protection).

Thanks, Thorsten. I hadn't even thought of virus protection. In fact, now
that I've tried it, it must be something like that, since it works fine
through Mozilla, both web-version AND news version. It's only when I use
IE that I get the non-working zip file.

(Here's the link, although I'm sure the problem is at my end:

http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.scene-files/thread/%3C42361f84%241%40news.povray.org%3E/?ttop=224835&toff=50

or

That's strange. I haven't had that happen to other zip files through I.E.
Oh, well.
