Sorry, if this may not be the correct news group,

After installation of the 32bit version of POVRAY on my laptop and starting
it, it fails with:

POV-Ray for Windows hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden.

Older Versions (than the newest to download) worked before, but
unfortunately, i have none of them anymore.

Can anybody help me, please?

Thank you all for the support,

Robert

What version are you trying to install? 3.6 or 3.7beta?

Did you uninstall before installing the new version?

You could have a bad download... Download it again and reinstall...

Hi Robert,
I had the same problem with POV-Ray 6.1 on WinXP home edition. There is a
thread about this on the group povray.win:

What you need is a new dll file, included in a zip file for a beta version
of POV-Ray 3.7. The file is called "cmedit32.dll". So in the bin folder of
your POV-Ray install there is an older version of this file with the same
name. Rename it (e.g. to "cmedit32.dllrenamed") and put the newer version
of the dll file into this folder. You don't have to reinstall POV-Ray 6.1.
In my case it solved the problem.

I feel free to attach the new dll in a zip folder, so you don't need to
download the whole (~8 MB) beta version.

Yours,
Bu.

Hi Burki,

thanks for the comprehensive hint!!!

I tried it with installing megapov. I got an error-message, but afterwards,
everything works fine.

Anyway, thanks very much for all of you, who tried to help that fast.

Best wishes,

Robert
