In fact the origin data is a mesh which is composed by lots of
rectangle.because the render's effect is not so good,I export the data by
veterxs and the triangles.and want to use the povray to render it.the code
is below,the problem is that it looks not smooth and I can see the diagonal
at rectangle.when the mesh become more fine,the mesh looks more nosie
dot.Do i need more information from origin data?or is there some good way
to do this.I don't use povray before.thanks a lot.

by the way ,the origin data is produced by a  arithmetic which produce   s
some sharp features on a  surface.so it is important that the sharp
features(the cicrle at center)looks more reality.

I just saw the information about normal vector.it says that the
normal_vectors{}  is the vertex's normal and If the number of normals
equals the number of vertices then the normal_indices{} list is optional
and the indexes from the face_indices{} list are used instead.
   I don't understand the normal_indices{} is record for what?HOw it relate
to normal_vectors{}?it seems   like face_indices{} in the example.
   if I can get the face's normal,can use it?how?thanks.

If you have the same amount of vertices as you have normals, the mesh will
use the first vertex with the first normal, the second vertex with the
second normal and so on.

But, if you have tons of the same normal (e.g. in a very planar mesh, you
might have lots of <0,1,0> normals), you can use normal_indices. For every
triangle defined with face_indices, you'd need to index which normals you
want to use.

Like Tim says , you must each vertex normals. But common sides's vertex
numbers
must same. For normal calc, My visual basic code :

'    x1 , x2, x3 vertex point.

    Dim v1(2) As Single, v2(2) As Single
    Dim nX As Single, nY As Single, nZ As Single


    ' Calculate two vectors from the three points

    v1(1) = Y2 - y1

If you want an object to be smooth everywhere, then each vertex should
only have one normal. The normals on all the faces that meet at the
point match, so there's a smooth transition from one face to another.

On the other hand, if you want your object to have sharp edges somewhere
(e.g. around the edge of the circle in the middle of your shape) then
points on the edge should have two normals (or more if you had wanted
sharp points, which you don't). A face outside the circle would have one
normal at an edge point, and a face inside the circle has a different
normal at the same point. This gives a discontinuity in the normals and
creates a sharp edge.

It is also possible to achieve the same effect by duplicating the edge
points. You could have two vertices at the same location, one with a
normal that matches the inside slope and one that matches the outside
slope.
