Helo everybody. I am working on a picture of a balrog from LOTR. I have a
basic shape going good but I am not so good at textures. Trying to repeat
or simulate the texture on the head below.

Looks kinda like a series of lines. any recomendations?

perhaps you misunderstood me. The pic is off the internet.I am using that as
a reference to what I want to end up with.
 I am trying to Make that in povray.

You're probably going to need UV mapping if you want it to follow the shape
of the horns like that. So you might just want to make an image map for the
texture.

If not, the gradient pattern for both a pigment and a normal (with some
color mapping) and some turbulence will probably work well.
