I asked this on the "New Users" Group without anyone knowing one way or the
other so I thought I'd throw it out to a different audience:
Does POV-Ray have the ability to generate and reveal the "real" images (at
it's focal point) of objects placed at the "center of curvature (twice the
focal length)" of a parabolic mirror (defined as a 2nd-order Infinite Solid
Object with "Mirror" finish)?

I haven't tried, but I guess you'd "see" the image if you place the camera
where the image is formed.
Otherwise, you'd need:
a) some object to receive the light rays and make the image visible (a
screen, some scattering media...)
b) lots and lots of photons to forward-trace the light rays... and you'd
still be missing the diffuse photons, I guess.

I'll bet a dollar that it WOULD work, w/o photons. I do believe, however,
that a second upside-down parabolic mirror acting as a filter for all the
wierd-looking images outside for the focal point would help. With a hole in
it, like those 'magic illusion' toys you see every now and then.

I work with the parabolic and hyperbolic mirror too. I place my camera under
the mirror, and I want it look only to the mirror ( in the image plane, we
have only the image which reflect on the mirror). But always, I have an
image not correct like reality. In the image plane, it haven't only the
image of mirror, but it have too image out of mirror. How we can repair
this problem?
