The Unix version of POV-Ray compiled on 64bit systems long before you
could even get a beta version of 64bit Windows. It will work without
problems on AMD64, Itanium, PowerPC or any other 64bit platform Linux
runs on.

I compiled a 64-bit binary of POV-Ray 3.5 in an ultrasparc computer
quite many years ago and it worked just fine (except for radiosity,
which had non-portable code, which was fixed in 3.6).
POV-Ray has basically always been possible to compile for 64-bit
systems. It's just the PC/Windows world which lags behind :P
