Can some one explain what the Max Level results mean from the example
below. I thought it might be the Max_Trace_Level but I have set this
to 50.
Statistics for bcb03a.pov, Resolution 1024 x 768
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pixels: 786432 Samples: 786432 Smpls/Pxl: 1.00
Rays: 1434111 Saved: 2566 Max Level: 20/20

It is max_trace_level. Probably you looked at the wrong stats or rendered a
different scene or something like that.

Thanks Thorsten,
What could change the value from 50? I copied the statistics while the
scene was rendering. Here are the scene's global settings, there is no
other instance of max_trace_level in the scene.
global_settings {
adc_bailout 0.003922
ambient_light <1.0,1.0,1.0>
assumed_gamma 1.0
hf_gray_16 off
irid_wavelength <0.247059,0.176471,0.137255>
max_intersections 64
max_trace_level 50
number_of_waves 10
noise_generator 2
charset ascii
}

Stephen

Then, it must be the statistics of the previously rendered sene. The
info you mention is only displayed after a render finishes.

True, but since it is from an animation and each frame has the same
objects and the same Global Settings. It must be because I'm using
Chris Colefax's LENS.INC and it has this line;
global_settings {max_trace_level 20}
Thanks for the input.
And hanks Thorsten.
