Hello, I've downloaded the Wings3D modeller along with the Povray export
plug-in. When I run Wings3D, I don't see an export option for Povray,
although there are some for .mdl and .vrml. The is also a plugin
preference menu for Povray. But I can't figure how to export and object
from Wings3D to a Povray .pov (or .inc) file? What am I doing wrong?

BTW I've downloaded the latest Wings3D (wings-0.98.11b) and the latest
WingsPov plugin (wingspov-0.98.11a_b).

Thanks.

You mean, there is a menu with preferences for POV-Ray export? You can
export from there.

I'm a few versions behind you, but if Wings3D still works like my version
does, you can click on the menu-text "POV-Ray 3.5" to export directly OR
you can click on the button right next to the text, for adjusting the
preferences - as you say, you have tried.. It should be rather simple.

If somehow these options not showing up, make sure you've put the
export-plugin in the right directory, and that the version corresponds with
the Wings3D version. Even a slight difference in version is currently enough
to mess it up.

Regards,
Hugo

I find it's easier to export to a wavefront .obj file then use PoseRay to
convert that to a pov file. It's a bit of hassle but PoseRay has better options.

Thanks for replying. All I had was under the "Edit" menu, a "Plugins
Preferences" item with a "Povray" sub-item. When I saw your reply I tried
messing with this and it looks like the problem was that the first Povray
option was set to "Automatic Dialogs", when I switched this to "Enabled
Dialogs", then a new Povray export option appeared under the "File->
Export" menu. Now it works and this new menu item also has a little box
next to it with Povray export options. So, you lead me in the right
direction even though it wasn't direct. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip! I would have never thought of doing that since I
assumed PoseRay would only be useful if I had Poser (never bothered to
inform myself). Great, I'll try that as well.
