Hello,
1) I got in blob 2 elements :
sphere { pos size1 power1 }
sphere { pos size2 power2 }
if thier's pos is same, then probably this can be replaced with single :
sphere { pos sizeX powerX }
(assuming that components 1 and 2 have same texture, and dont have other
transforms) ?
(What if we alsow assume that thier size and power is same - this are 1
identical components) ?
What's formula for sizeX and powerX ?
2) blob { threshold thr;
sphere { pos size power }
}
can be replaced with simpel sphere sphere { pos radius }
where radius = ... ?

);g(2*div(l,10)-8,2*mod(l,10)-8)*p(div(c,100))#else 1#end#end light_source{

Assuming both of their sizes are the same, I believe
sphere {pos size1 power1+power2}
will work. If the sizes are different, though, then I don't think anything
will produce exactly the same result.
The answer to question number two can probably be found analytically. Check
the documentation for the formula of the surface of a single blob element.
