Being inspired by Bill's investigations, I was looking for patterns 
generation algorithms and found this sophisticated approach, implemented 
in Rhino:

I guess that Grasshopper's elements and their combinations can be a 
great source of ideas for implementation on SDL.

[Some of that reminds me of an old post about Rheotomic Surfaces.]

It's always good to look outside of what we (think we) have, and the methods by
which people have traditionally done projects with POV-Ray.

As always, Shadertoy is an endless, mind-blowing array of stunning inventiveness
and creativity.
I find a lot of really cool things on Desmos.
Stack Exchange, Stack Overflow, Wolfram Mathematica, and just doing keyword or
image searches on basic keywords.

I like the (usually) repeating patterns that are based on mathematical
equations, because I find them compact and elegant.

However, those are usually limited to 2D pigment patterns, or somewhat slower
isosurfaces - and require a bit of mathematical intuition.

My suggestion for a 3D object repeat warp was aimed at a way for people to
create a "unit cell" by whatever methods were most familiar and easily
constructed by them, and then repeated with a minimum of extra memory or
computational overhead.


But going back to sources of inspiration - we can find those everywhere.
Sometimes I find things on YouTube, woodworking forums, science papers,
historical investigations, architecture, astronomy, meterology, scribbles on
paper, reflections, and even simple children's toys.

And recently there is access to AI.

Finding the time to explore and actually implement it all ....  ;)

I like this patterns and how easy they can be produced, guess
using more sophisticated based elements can make them more attractive.
The art of ornament is enchants me too ).
