Reading sources I found that torus object has uv mapping defined but it is not
written in documentation. That's probably becouse there are two bugs in
implementation. I have fixed it at http://abx.art.pl/pov/patches/uvtorus.php.

Comments ? Suggestions ?

Hmm, nice.

How about adding uv-mapping for cylinders?

In this case it would be good, if you use same (or at least as similar
as possible) mapping, as in case of RenderMan. This makes my life easier :-)
RenderMan uv-mapping for quadric primitives is described there:

Thanks. I never expected I can make your life easier but I would be proud of
it. I will try but I have long list of patches to do so it will wait for a
moment.
