I was testing out moray 3.7 windows.
was checking out some of the mdl samples that came with it.
did the usual, export it to povray and then render it. the render part
didn't work. got a message saying:
"moray has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working
correctly. windows will close the program and notify you of a solution"
I'm not really familiar with windows version of moray. My prior
experience was with Moray (forget what version) dos version in the late
'90s; 1998-1999 before I abandoned it due to computer's slow render times.
Back then, I was on OS/2.
now, I'm on win7.

Could you save to Pov format and just edit the file to be able to render in
Povray 3.7 instead?

I do that with Bishop3D, now freeware. Start the render in Pov 3.6 and
load it in Pov 3.7, manually.

Yes that is the way to go with Moray. Export the scene to POV-Ray and
render in version 3.7. Otherwise, it is a good idea to have POV-Ray 3.5
along too. You can test your scenes and only in the final version export
and change for POV-Ray 3.7. It was what I did for years before I stopped
using Moray.

Try Vista and if that doesn't work XP should.
It won't work with Pov 3.7 IIRC but it will work with Pov 3.5.
