Just a heads up, that I did some cleanup over on the Wiki. A while back
the reference section was moved to it's own namespace. For example
Documentation:Agate Pattern was moved to Reference:Agate Pattern ... the
cleanup just removed the now duplicate files in the Documentation
namespace, so if anyone notices any irregularities please let me know.

Seems ok.

Something I have wanted to ask about for a while: the font size is very
small, especially the green ones. For the younger people this might not
be a problem, but for older ones like me, they give serious trouble with
reading ;-)

At least, why not make the green text of the same font size as the rest
of the document?

Thomas

In the html version the font size is dependent on what browser default
size is set ... Ctrl + makes it bigger Ctrl - makes it smaller Ctrl .
resets to default. Does windoze version have similar?

Yes it has. I had not been aware of this ;-)

Thanks Jim.

Hi Jim,

what really needs a cleanup is the link-collection. A lot of them are down, may
be some of them moved and others were changed over the years and have no
POV-content any longer since their author switched to Autodesk. At the moment
POV is occupied at both of my machines - the Suse as well as the Windoze (typo?)
one - searching for more realistic pyroclastic flows around Mt. Rainier using
Rune's particle system so I have a little time to lend a hand with this issue.
Unfortunatelly I cannot find the "`create accound"' option at the POV-Wiki. As
it seems this option is deactivated due to spam bots.

Best regards,
Michael

A while back someone was actively working on resolving some of the sites
that (like you pointed out) had moved or gone away. I'm not sure how far
they had gotten with that effort. I'd have to check, but IIRC he'd made
/some/ progress. The user "Mr" posts here from time to time .. he's the
chap that maintains the Blender->POV exporter. Perhaps he will notice
this thread and fill us in on where he stopped. Something I remember
about his effort that he was able to find some of the disappeared sites
on some archive site ... waybackmachine or something like that. At any
rate I can create accounts, but would have to classify that as low
priority. Since I'm not someone who turns done help I /might/ be able to
get to it later next week. Still interested?

Hi!
I have not given up but it's been a while since I haven't worked on it:
So far, I have done entirely with all their subsections:

    3D Animation Utilities

    3D Image and Texture Resources

    3D Magazines, Lists, and FAQs

    3D Programs

What remains:

    3D Discussion Forums

    3D Link Sites

    3D Model Sites

    3D Prototyping

    3D Resources

    3D Tutorials

POV-Ray Include, Macro and Object Files

    POV-Ray People Pages

What help I would like: a first pass from someone who would not delete any link,
but just correct the ones obvious like when the name or directory tree has
changed a little but the site and/or content still exists at the same host or
otherwise if possible linked by its original author. When in doubt do nothing.

For the deleting of dead link, I'd rather do that myself after I triple checked
that the Internet Time Machine; reocities and other such archeological tools ALL
fail (that way I managed to declare officially dead less than 5 or 10 links over
the sections mentioned in which hundreds were failing. So If you find one just
leave it as it is. The rest that you'll have done will speed up my finding it.

I hope this is not too directive? in any case, if you happen to finish that pass
get in touch with me via the discussion page my wiki account is Maurice.
Thanks a lot for your help

Yes, there will be other evenings with long time renderings. No need to hurry...

I looked through the discussion pages and it seems that the user "Maurice" has
worked through the "Animation Utilities", "Image and Texture Resources",
"Magazines, Lists, and FAQs" and "Programs". At "Resources" he left an entry to
start there next time. This was 11. December 2011. All other discussion pages
are empty.

Ah, while writing this response, Mr (aka Maurice) gave an answer and confirmed
the findings above. Seems I have to learn more about the time machines. In the
past I found only two lost resources at such machines by simply googling for
them. But I looked only for ones I was really interested in. There are some
details in Maurice's "directives" I didn't comprehend - may be lost to
translation and the reason why it took so long to answer - and I still need an
account at the POV-Wiki.

I propose to communicate in private about both issues. My email is
mi-friedrichs317t-online.de. Please replace the 317 by @. Today I will withdraw
into RL but will answer tomorrow.

Best regards,
Michael

I considered your answers a while and decided to withdraw from my offer to help
here. I hope, we are a community here and no one has to give "directives" as mr
tried.

Best regards,
Michael

Well I think Maurice is a pretty reasonable fellow and I'm sure he
didn't mean it as it was taken ... I think partly to blame here as I
felt the methodical approach was best. He was working under my guidance,
so perhaps if I step back and let you two hash it out you might reconsider.
