Since many months it seems to me, that fewer and fewer people are 
participating the POV-Ray news groups. In addition, answers to my postings 
take more and more time to come in.

I wonder, if the POV-Ray community, once famous and gloriful as the render 
software is, is now in the process of ... dying. Is it?

Probably, slowly. There are other cheap solutions out there, many of 
which are more popular. Most people don't really care about some of the 
advanced features POV-Ray offers, and they are mainly exporting into 
real-time applications like video games anyway.
