Is there a quick way to identify whether images were created using 
POV-Ray? Does POV-Ray leave any sort of tag in PNG images that could be 
used to identify the creation program?

The presence of a gAMA chunk in the absence of an sRGB and iCCP chunk 
might be an indicator. POV-Ray does not deliberately give away its 
identity though.
