I just tried the latest luminous bloom scene with an HDR file I rendered
lately.
The bloom realy breakup around strong bright spots.
Will post on the image forum.

That version does not support HDR files... I should have mentioned that
somewhere, but it seems I didn't. You are talking about the dark spots
you get inside the middle of the glare and not the dot pattern, right?

Both the dark spots and the pattern in the glare.

I have posted a new version to p.t.scene-files,
news://news.povray.org:119/4aa6fd0d@news.povray.org, in which HDR files
are supported and dark spots do not seem to occur. I have also posted an
example image to p.b.images:

The dot pattern will still be present. At this time you may try to keep
the radius (rad variable) low so the sample points don't get too spread out.
You may also try to keep the bright areas of your images broad. A
bright, tiny Christmas tree bulb would probably show a conspicuous dot
pattern, whereas something broad like a flower petal would allow the
samples to blend together more nicely.
