I'm trying to get MLPOV running here so I can try out this HDRI thing
LightBeam has been using so successfully. When I start up MLPOV
(installed precisely as instructed), I get the following error:

"ERROR: Cannot find Home in registry.

This entry should have been set by the installation program.

If you did not install using the correct installation procedure, please
do this before running POV-Ray for Windows.

Otherwise, consult the README file that should have accompanied this
executable file. "

Clicking OK closes the dialogue and I'm back to square one. There was no
  readme included with the docs.

When I installed POV-Ray 3.6.1 and MEGAPOV I encountered no
difficulties. As far as I know there were no problems with either
installation, so whatever the problem is seems to be related to MLPOV.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I'm running 3.6
instead of 3.5 (which it was originally written for?)

Thanks for any help you can offer.

~Mike

Most probably.

As you said......
MLPov works *only* with 3.5
