I've noticed that some of the newsgroups aren't available in the web-view,
especially the povray.tools.* groups. povray.off-topic I can understand not
being available from the web-view (even though it appears that it is, but
then it doesn't work).

I'm just wondering if this was an oversight, or if there is another reason
behind it. I've seen a couple questions that have been posted in other
places as a result. I guess my own selfish interest is seeing the
povray.tools.* groups become more lively, and I'm wondering if that would
help.

Thanks.

They are available.

??? The off-topic group is not available in the web view at all. And it has
not been available for a long time either.

Previously the web interface did not allow posting new messages
or replys in the tools groups. I see new messages are now enabled,
but I'm still unable to post a reply (using the web interface).

I saw your Poser 5 message in the macintosh group last month, and when I
recently checked here: http://www.povray.org/resources/newsgroups, I saw
that these groups were still not listed. I didn't realize that there was a
difference between that site and http://news.povray.org/groups.

I guess that also partly explain's Thorsten's "???" when I mentioned that I
could see the off-topic group, but that clicking on the "web-view" didn't
work.

I feel somewhat responsible for the creation of the .poser group, so I also
feel somewhat responsible for keeping it alive. I thought that it would be
livlier than it is. Are you using Poser 5 now? I haven't used it as much
as I expected that I would, but I'm still glad that I bought it.
Additionally, there's more of a learning curve than I expected. ;-)

Unfortunately work consumed all my free time this past month
so my POVCOMP entry bit the dust. I've put Poser aside for now
but I'm hoping to return to it after I finish my Venice scene this
Winter.

I'm glad there's a Poser tools group here and I'm sure I'll be making
good use of it in the future.

Just to be a little more clear on this, if you go to
http://www.povray.org/resources and click on the "POV-Ray Newsgroups" link,
it takes you to http://www.povray.org/resources/newsgroups. From there, if
you click on "[web view]" for "off-topic", it takes you to
http://news.povray.org/groups. Additionally, the new groups are not listed
there, but they are linked to indirectly. I guess this was an oversight on
my part. I didn't recheck the news.povray.org site.

But anyway, my point was that I understand why the the off-topic group does
not allow reading and posting from the web-interface. Somehow, you seem to
keep misinterpreting my posts. In the future, please feel free to kindly
ask for a clarification if there is something that you do not understand.
Sometimes my questions are probably worded strangely, but your tone makes me
hesitant to post relevant questions. I don't believe that helps anyone.

Thank you, Thorsten.

Given that the one is (rather well hidden) on www.povray.org and the other
is the main entry page of news.povray.org, you post was about as confusing
as it possibly could have been. Usually when talking about web pages it is
extremely helpful to provide the link to prevent such communication
problems. As time permits the resources page will be updated, thanks for
pointing this out.

Ah, strange, looks like I forgot to enable that in the database...

I will try to remember to use those words against you at my earliest
convenience. Thank you for stepping down off your pedestal to reply in such
a condescending manner.

There was nothing personal or non-factual in my reply, so I don't see why
you turn this into a personal insult.
