Just updated my website...
http://www.oyonale.com/oy_en.htm
Link to the "new images and resources" page
http://www.oyonale.com/new_en.htm
There are not that many new images, sorry... Between learning new software
and other things, I haven't done much POV-Ray lately. Also, with almost 150
pages, I'm closing down the Book of Beginnings. The first images were
uploaded on the internet in 1995, so it's about time I move on and try new
things in CG.
My current goal POV-Ray-wise is to publish the models created for the
scenes, so there are some big downloads here:
- sci-fi models (already made available here)
http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/sources14.htm
- plants and tree models :
http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/sources15.htm
- Mini Cooper and building models
http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/sources16.htm
There's also a separate page for photographic textures
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/oyonale/.
Note that the scripts, models and textures are now under a clearer (I hope)
Creative Commons Attribution License, that basically says that you are free
to use and distribute this material, and that you can use it commercially or
not, provided that the author is credited and the license transfered in case
of redistribution.
More goodies to come, but I need to create proper demo scenes before!

As always: outstanding.
I particularly liked the 5th season, and the rain version of the assassin
and his cats.

Looks great, are the technical models in
http://www.oyonale.com/ldc/english/asymmetry.htm
self-made or did you use other sources?
I downloaded the 'Mini Cooper and building' and there are two image
files missing in the package as it seems. I could not resist doing a
quick test with HDRI (no light sources):

Low quality radiosity, lots of artefacts but not bad for 20 minutes
render time i think...

It's a big mixture.
http://www.oyonale.com/ldc/english/imagelist.htm#asymmetry
The elephant spiky armour is the only genuine material I did. The other
stuff comes from 3D Cafe and Viewpoint, and from a Japanese site that does
incredible military models in Lightwave... and I lost the URL and cannot
find the site anymore. The meshes of the different models were mixed in
Rhino in some sort of 3D collage, with some new meshes to glue them
together.

Fixed, thanks. For those who don't want to download the package again, here
they are:

Would you consider offering Book of Beginnings on cd?

I tend to believe it's a web-only thing. It'd feel constrained on a CD. I'm
meeting with some art gallery folks soon about it, so I'll see what they
say. In any case, as I'm forever unhappy with the texts, I'll keep touching
them up here and there. I'm closing it in the sense that lately the updates
felt like a duty, but I don't rule out adding images to it. Basically I'd
like to explore things, like you do with the African masks, and the BoB
isn't a good playground for this.

I meant to preserve it in its final state.

I love to be a fly on the wall

They were a brilliant idea. The sauce for the meal. And quite
effective I thought.

Never a good thing. So basically, adding the texts you mean is the
burden. Quite understandable.
but I don't rule out adding images to it. Basically I'd

You're discovering new ways to make sauce.

Perhaps few images, but very good ones indeed.

That's awesome... the work you put preparing all the demos and
objects is awesome... just the same you put into the images! I can't
believe it...

As Christoph, I haven't resisted to play with the Mini, incorporating
it on my current scene, which casually was going to be a garage.
The model is not only very detailed, but also very well textured, as
it integrated perfectly into the actual scene lighting without any tweaking:

Thanks again for letting us to play and learn with your work!

<snip>
Breathtaking, as usual. So much for a productive day at work. :-)
Something began to occur to me as I worked on my old schoolhouse project
(which is still unfinished): Isn't it a shame to put hours and hours of work
into something that only produces one scene? Now I see that you've
apparently had similar thoughts. Not a lot of different scenes, perhaps,
but lots of variations, which makes up for it in my opinion. Not to get too
deep (thinking), but that's one of the strengths, if not the "beauty", of
working with this media.
I really like "Season of the Friendly Snails".
Good luck in the future. I already can't wait until 2005. ;-)
