Hmm

Have your tried the Linux version? I think this is something related
exclusively to Windows POV. Most likely once again some kind of fault that
lies in Windows, or the Windows specific code of POV, not in the POVRay
code itself.

I have been running 3.6 on Linux 24/7 for weeks now with no crashes at all.

I shifted to Linux POV exactly because of what you mention here - random
crashes (on 3.5) for demanding or long-running renders under Windows. All
those problems simply disappeared when I switched to Linux POVRay.

Sometimes I have coredumps even! I also never had that with 3.5.
If this is going to happen more often I'm back to 3.5 :(

I use the linux version when I do long renderings but still 3.5 because 
I would like to compile 3.6 myself for AMD64.

I think it has something to do with the Windows-GUI. But I don't know what.
