No, but you may need to rename one of your 'povray' binaries. Not sure
if the POV-Ray install program does this for you.

No problems. POV-Ray 3.6 uses a different place for the configuration
files than 3.5 and during install it will copy the 3.5 povray.ini to the
new place if it exists.

You will however have to rename your POV-Ray 3.5 executable to whatever
you prefer (for example povray35). The install script just creates a
backup copy.

Don't need to rename any file. I have both versions each in it's own
folder and can execute one or the other. Just need a shortcut for each.

this is what happened for me. i had povray 3.5 executable as
/usr/local/bin/povray (or maybe it was /usr/bin/povray). upon unstallation
of 3.5 was renamed to something like /usr/local/bin/povray3.5.old and 3.6
executable was /usr/local/bin/povray. I think this might have been what he
meant about how you might want to rename the old 3.5 executable to something
more friendly.

additionally, it created a /usr/local/share/povray-3.6 directory structure
with all the files in it, leaving my existing /usr/local/povray-3.5
directory alone.

it all worked just fine for me. nice and easy
