Hello fellow POVers,

I decided to extend the deadline for entering the
competition for making the cover of a dutch thesis till
the end of the weekend. Two reasons: no reactions yet :(
and the procedure was apparently not clear.

NOTE: the DEADLINE for the RENDER is AUGUST 1rst

The deadline on the 13th is for entering, all you
have to do is write an email to meh### [at] mcclnl
saying: `hey, I would like to make that cover.
I think I would <some short description of an
idea for a render> and here you can see some of
my previous work'.
That's all, no new render required at this stage.

for more details: see my earlier posts of May 20

Hello there!

It all sounds interesting and such, but *my* main problem (don't know what
the others have) is that I don't understand much of what you've written in
the summary. Considering that you've written the summary for a layman, I'm
beneath a layman. ;-) I do know a little about genes and a little about
molecular structures, but without images to back me up, I have simply no
clue what the thesis is about and how I should visualize it. If you could
post some links to images of those hexa-thingy structures or such, maybe one
could get a better "feeling" for what might need to be visualized.

I'll go re-read the summary and try to make some more sense of it, but I
can't say for sure if I can do an image. Unless I have a good idea to begin
with, my images turn out as junk most of the time...

Regards,
Tim

What I tried to do was give some background and introduce some terms.
In hindsight I should probably have cut down on the terminology
and directly translate that into CSG language.

No, I am a lousy writer :( I want to stress again that whatever
I wrote, or whatever the thesis is about, you should only
take it as an inspiration to create an image and not try
to capture the essence of a whole thesis in just one image
(that is impossible). Aside: I included 3 weeks in which
a couple of POVers could communicate with us and refine
their image before we make a final selection.

Shay came up with http://tinyurl.com/2g67s that contains
beatiful glowing images of connexins, I put an pen drawing in
a post yesterday (and was rightly flamed by ABX for that,
so I will not repeat that).

I cannot remember having seen any junk from you, they were all
nice pieces of work IIRC. Then again, perhaps you did not
publish the other ones ;)

Thanks for your reply anyway,
