am I the only person more than slightly nauseated by the idea of
something like this? (or is it the large amount of mac & cheese
I just ate...)

By the concept of a high resolution projector? No...why is that
nauseating? Though the price could give one an aneurysm...
Seems pretty decent specs...bright, very nice contrast ratio, good
resolution (though not extraordinary...just double 1024x768).
However...a suggested list price of nearly a quarter million dollars?
Without a lens?

If you run a conference center or a cinema "playing" with digital movie
projection, that sounds almost like a reasonable price ;-)

However, given the US and Europe are pushing towards completely digital
television transmission, and those offer between 1280 and 1920 pixels
horizontal resolution, I would expect prices of similar projectors to drop
to consumer levels within five to eight years...

While the resolution certainly contributes to the effect, the price
and fact that it's 7000 lumens probably have more to do with it...I
mean, my own projector is 900 lumens and it's insanely bright. But
if you replace the 7000 lumen lamp with a 900, and drop the price
by a factor of 100, that resolution and contrast ratio is awefully
nice...
